I saw opening night and thought it was great. Ilyse plays a sweet but condescending Ghost of Christmas Past and has the best wig although Steve Barkhimer’s Fezziwig is a close second. I particularly liked Paul Farwell’s Scrooge, Brett Cramp as Bob Cratchit and all of Eric Hamel’s characters. Peter Haydu plays a very scary Marley (I won’t be bringing my five-year-old but there are probably plenty of kids that age who could handle it). There is enough music in this production to call it a musical – everyone sings and most cast members play multiple instruments. The women’s voices, especially Leigh Barrett, are particularly beautiful and Claire Dickson’s song (that Rick Lombardo wrote for this production) as Tiny Tim is surely as heart-rending as Dickens’ could have wanted.
